How Bosch replaced factory kiosks with real-time intel in employees' pockets

Bosch USA replaced long queues at information kiosks with a single, fully branded mobile hub – My Bosch App. Now production-line associates get payslips, company news, and site-relevant updates delivered straight to their pockets – no waiting, no bottlenecks, no confusion.

Key highlights

Goodbye, information kiosks

Within weeks of launching My Bosch App, several plants shut down their information kiosks – saving maintenance costs and freeing up floor space.

One app for everything

Relevant shift updates, HR news, plant events, and even PPE delivery alerts are now delivered straight to each employee’s phone.

Real-time, two-way communication

Bosch’s comms team can target messages by site, shift, or role, and frontline teams can ask questions or give feedback instantly.

Feels like Bosch

The app is Bosch-branded from login to menu icons, so employees feel at home inside it, rather than in a generic third-party tool.

Before Flip

Kiosk queues and email chaos

Most of the people working at Bosch’s many production facilities don’t have PCs, company phones, or emails. But they still need to check payslips, request vacation, and stay informed.

For decades, Bosch relied on shared kiosks to support those processes and deliver critical information. But kiosks created long lines; associates wasted their precious break schedules and still left uninformed.

"
“We’ve been running kiosks for tens of years… but is it efficient? Of course not. There are always long lines, never enough kiosks, and associates spend their breaks just waiting.”

Adam Pikula

IT Director, Bosch USA

Important updates – from shutdown schedules to PPE delivery – landed late, went missing, or triggered email chains among managers that created communication chaos. Information gaps grew, and it was difficult to create a sense of belonging.

Key challenges

  • Long queues and limited access to kiosks

  • Communication mess caused by email dependency

  • Lack of direct access to important tools and info without a PC or company phone

The Solution

My Bosch App: a single, AI-ready, frontline hub

Bosch set out to build a mobile app that could be rolled out across their facilities worldwide – ridding them of those kiosk queues and bringing their production employees into the digital era.

"
Especially for younger generations who are joining – it wouldn't be normal if they can't check their pay or receive news on their mobile. Come on, it's the 21st century, right?

Adam Pikula

IT Director, Bosch USA

They partnered with Flip to create the My Bosch App, a cutting-edge, fully-branded mobile app that's designed for the unique needs and working environment of their production employees.

"
We set out to give associates an app where they could check everything — payslips, news, you name it – and truly feel part of the company.

The results

Production employees are included, informed, and efficient

Less waiting, more efficiency

Several sites replaced physical kiosks within months, while others saw queues dramatically reduce. By introducing direct access to key info and tools, associates get what they need, when they need it, without wasting valuable time.

Stronger connection to the company

Relevant news and info now reaches each individual instantly, with employees saying they like hearing what's happening at their plants and at the company. The app is entirely Bosch-branded, increasing employer recognition.

Future-ready delivery platform

IT now has a single digital interface with frontline employees through which they can quickly and easily roll out future use cases. Next up, they're exploring AI-powered vacation booking and answers for new joiners.

What's next

AI that supports new hires and can book time off

With Flip, Bosch brought critical tools, updates, and services directly into every associate’s hands. Kiosk queues disappeared, email clutter dropped, and factory teams reclaimed valuable time. A single app now powers faster processes, targeted communication, and a more connected frontline.

But they’re not stopping there. Bosch is now extending My Bosch App with AI to enable:

  • Self‑service vacation booking: Associates can request time off in seconds without disrupting supervisors’ flow or clogging kiosks.

  • 24/7 answers for newcomers: New hires can ask about anything (tooling, safety, policies) and get instant, accurate responses, making onboarding scalable and consistent.
